Pliri Ntaxei’s sound captures the essence of traditional Greek rebétiko from the interwar period, as preserved in the era’s discography. Hailing from Thessaloniki, the band’s musicians proudly represent a rich heritage of Greek traditional music dating back to the early 20th century. Much of this historic sound was recorded not only in Greece but also in the USA and Istanbul (former Constantinople) by its vibrant diaspora.

For this Ritmu Roots Festival, their repertoire blends selections from Pliri Ntaxei’s own discography with timeless rebétiko classics.

Comprising a trio featuring the bouzouki, guitar, and baglama, a classic ensemble in Greek traditional music, the band excels at reinterpreting the music of the 1930s while also crafting original pieces inspired by time honoured compositional forms.

Bouzouki & Vocals

Lefteris Tsikouridis, & Christos Pappas

Guitars & Vocals

Manolis Porfyrakis
